Do you know what does this words mean? Men Pride? Hmmm... If you did wikipedia and you will find this:

Pride is an inwardly directed emotion that carries two common meanings. With a negative connotation, pride refers to an inflated sense of one's personal status or accomplishments, often used synonymously with hubris.

With a positive connotation, pride refers to a satisfied sense of attachment toward one's own or another's choices and actions, or toward a whole group of people, and is a product of praise, independent self-reflection, or a fulfilled feeling of belonging.

Philosophers and social psychologists have noted that pride is a complex secondary emotion which requires the development of a sense of self and the mastery of relevant conceptual distinctions (e.g., that pride is distinct from happiness and joy) through language-based interaction with others.

Some social psychologists identify it as linked to a signal of high social status.In contrast pride could also be defined as a disagreement with the truth.

One definition of pride in the first sense comes from St. Augustine: "the love of one's own excellence". In this sense, the opposite of pride is either humility or guilt; the latter in particular being a sense of one's own failure in contrast to Augustine's notion of excellence.

Pride is sometimes viewed as excessive or as a vice, sometimes as proper or as a virtue. While some philosophers such as Aristotle (and George Bernard Shaw) consider pride a profound virtue, most world religions consider it a sin, such as the Old Testament of the Bible used by Christians and Jews, in Proverbs 11:2.

Well, does this explain everything? Hmmm... Well, to me pride contain both good and bad. It depend on which side and how you see the thing.

Example: With great pride one people tend it find difficult to say sorry when you are in the wrong. But at the same time, if the person with great pride saying sorry to you, when he is and he do mean it, HE REALLY mean it!

In army I was trained in a way as "we pride we lead!!!" Well, this really diffuse deep in my brain. Like when my back injures I still continue all the outfield training and running with my guys. And when I completed it although it was pain but it was a great and satisfaction.

Until today my back still pain and I still love running. Pride and aim is a great thing, It keep on pushes me on and on. Like how i get the best solider of the month in the whole battalion (unknowingly), how i get letter of appreciation from an angry customer, how i get an good perform award and so and so on, although it is not a must to do, but i do it with pride and with an extra mile.

To me you are will to move an extra mile in term of doing every single little thing and of course you will see there is always an bonus in every single thing when you complete it, if it don't at least 你对了你自己! :D

But of course don't let pride consume oneself. Instead, If one consume it own pride and say sorry to the one or admit it wrong, if he or she is. This is a great and pride man/women. :)
